Chargers win the Practice Game

Deccan Chargers won the practice game against Otago Volts (New Zealand 20/20 Champions) on October 6th 2009 at Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium, Hyderabad. Captain Adam Gilchrist was the highest scorer with 75 runs. Way to go Chargers!

Tilak Cermony of Deccan Chargers for CLT20

Deccan Chargers are charged up for the Champions League commencing from October 8th, 2009. Wrigley India (Sponsors) organized the Tilak cermony at ITC Kakatiya, Hyderabad for the IPL 2009 Champions, to wish the Chargers for the upcoming CLT20 matches.

On this occasion, children from Spoorthy orphanage led the Chargers on the dais and garlanded them. Captain Adam Gilchrist, Coach Darren Lehmann, VVS Laxman, Fidel Edwards, Andrew Symonds and all the team members graciously participated in the cermony and interacted with the media and fans.

Mr. E Venkatram Reddy, Director - Operations, Deccan Chargers announced a donation of Rs.1,00,000/- to the orphanage, on behalf of the Deccan Chargers. This gesture and charity work of the Deccan Chargers was well appreciated.

Captain Gilly also spoke on the ocassion and thanked the media and fans for their tremendous support.









The Tilak Cermony was followed by a stand up comic act by Vikram Sathe which was enjoyed throughly by the players and attendees at the get together.

Chargers in Town for CLT20

Captain Gilly, Coach Lehmann, Andrew Symonds, Scott Styris and support staff arrive in Hyderabad for the CLT20 Tournament, commencing from 8th October. Deccan chargers will play their first match in Hyderabad on October 10th against Somerset CCC.

Champions League T20


Champions League T20 Tournament will be played from October 8th to 23rd, 2009 in India. Hyderabad, Bengaluru and Delhi will host the games to be played by twelve teams from India, England , South Africa, Sri Lanka, West Indies and New Zealand.


India is represented by IPL - 2 Champions - The Deccan Chargers, Royal Challengers Bangalore and Delhi Daredevils.

Saina Nehwal became the first Indian woman ever to reach the quarterfinals of a World Badminton Championship. She defeated Petya Nedelcheva of Bulgaria 18-21, 21-18, 21-10 at the SAAP Indoor Stadium, Hyderabad on August 14, 2009. She is presently rated No.6 in the World.

Saina will meet World No. 2 Lin Wang of China on August 15, 2009.
